About Our ‘Mind-Body Strategies for Hypermobility with Chronic Pain’ Support Group & Research Program Initiative:

This mindfulness and movement-focused program is part of an ongoing initiative to learn, discuss, research and incorporate mind-body strategies in an integrative healthcare program for individuals living with Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD) with chronic pain, such as Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS). Our Mind-Body Strategies for Hypermobility with Chronic Pain program focuses on three elements principle components – gentle yoga (movement/yoga portion of this program is listed separately as ‘Yoga for Chronic Pain,’) meditation, and monthly group meetings. Participants will be expected to utilize the principles learned and discussed in monthly group meetings, and apply them to their daily lives at home while keeping a journal of their progress. Our monthly group meetings will discuss experiences over the previous month, challenges, triumphs, and will include support group discussion and meditation. A research project and online program are also being developed. Details will be announced soon.

Registration for this program is required through The Mindfulness Center’s website. Or, go here to register.

 Message from Kendra:

EDS Wellness was founded on the desire to help the broader hypermobility related disorders community learn ways to live well – NOW. We want hope and a brighter future for our children. And we want to know how we CAN help ourselves and that we DO have some control in this life-long, often unpredictable journey. EDS Wellness is only here because of you — our community — the one we personally live in and have chosen to professionally entrench ourselves in as well. We continue to be humbled by the consistent support & encouragement received from our nonprofit collaborative partners – the Hypermobility Syndromes Association based in the UK, The International Pain Foundation, The Mindfulness Center and several others.

Thank you to everyone who has filled out our 6 question survey. We’ve loved reading the responses and feedback. If anyone is interested in submitting feedback, please do. As always, nothing is set in stone. We are always open to feedback and trying to learn ways to help our community best. Additionally, thank you to those who donated to EDS Wellness through Facebook’s “Donate Your Birthday” Fundraising Campaign. I was completely surprised and honored to see the notifications that EDS Wellness will receive $180 in donations from several amazing, generous, caring and supportive friends. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. $180 covers EDS Wellness’ insurance policies for another month – a cost that is imperative for us to operate as a reputable nonprofit and do the work we do.

Most importantly, we can’t thank those who participated with us in the #AmericaRuns5k fundraiser enough! And as always, thank you to Charity Footprints for being an amazing organization to partner with. We raised $287.00 for a deserving individual or family (possibly more than one) in our community was has been impacted by one of the recent hurricanes. Additional details on this fundraiser will be shared soon.
