‘The Role of Nutrition and Lifestyle in Chronic Illness and Neurodegenerative Diseases,’ such as Multiple Sclerosis (MS) are why integrative wellness retreats, such as Wellapalooza 2017 are so critical for our community.  MS and countless other chronic conditions are comorbid with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), some other hypermobility syndromes, and MCAS.

While diet, exercise and lifestyle factors may not be a “cure,” they often provide help, sometimes even considerable symptom improvement, once each of us takes the time to find the right “recipe” for our bodies new homeostasis.

‘Grand Rounds with Terry Wahls, MD’

Research continues to suggest a significant role for modifiable lifestyle factors in arresting and reversing neurodegeneration. Lifestyle, particularly nutrition, offers several avenues for improving brain health. Terry Wahls, MD, has been a longtime leader in lifestyle interventions for multiple sclerosis (MS). As MS and other neurodegenerative conditions continue to increase, effective treatments to prevent decline are increasingly important.

In this free Grand Rounds presentation by IFM and the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Wahls will present the latest research on modifiable lifestyle factors that can help patients with MS manage fatigue. She will dive into specific foods and overall nutrition as well as specific tests to assess and monitor the microbiome.
