Wellness Education, Strategic Lifestyle Support, Medical and Health Success Planning Programs and Services for Individuals and Small Groups

Wellness Education and Strategic Lifestyle Support
Services and Programs for Individuals and Small Groups:

Working with certified health education specialist is similar to working with a counselor, but with a powerful action element. Holding your agenda in the forefront, your specialist will listen to what you are saying, and be mindful of what you are not saying. You will be challenged when appropriate, while also having the unconditional support of your biggest cheerleader. Working with a Certified Health Educational Specialist (CHES) will enable you to sharpen your skills when it comes to fitness, nutrition, and identify barriers to your health that may exist in other aspects of your life. You will learn to balance your wellness needs to fit your lifestyle, your schedule and find what works best in collaboration with your family and those around you. Every individual is different — there’s not a one size fits approach to how we all should live our lives, gain strength, improve our health and overall well-being. Therefore, your health education specialist will customize a plan that will work best for you based on your unique biochemical and psychological needs while also identifying the unique barriers you face to achieving your health goals. Your health education specialist will help foster necessary behavior modifications and lifestyle change, that will shape your health and over well-being, help you achieve your goals, and live a healthy and more fulfilling life — one that you deserve. You will be inspired and empowered through the support of your health education specialist while being held accountable through which perseverance you will be lead to succeed!

Professional Patient Advocacy
A patient advocate is a professional that has developed an expertise in navigating the complex healthcare system through experience and education. A patient advocate provides direct support services to patients and their caretakers by ensuring that the patient’s voice is represented in their medical care while providing the information a patient needs to implement informed decision making. There are patient advocates established at hospitals who provide their services to patients free of charge; however, these individuals usually work for a hospital’s risk management department. Patient advocates that are employed by hospitals or a  healthcare system  provide mediation between patient’s complaints and the hospital, to help minimize a hospital’s liability. These patient advocates are not trained in your specific condition, nor do they represent you outside of the hospital. Additionally, there are organizations that offer free advocacy resources but may only serve specific issues. Many free patient advocate services are not local or specific to your needs/condition. Free services outside these situations are often only provided to patients who meet the federal poverty guidelines.

How would a patient advocate help me?

A patient advocate is committed to helping you by providing the information and resource connections that are needed to meet your healthcare needs most effectively. Also, patient advocates are empathetic to your situation, and understand the overwhelming emotions that come with navigating the complex health care system; thus, having a patient advocate can also help alleviate any un-needed stress. Working with a private patient advocate means that you have someone to navigate your healthcare needs that have only your best interest in mind. Patient Advocates usually only take cases that they are comfortable supporting.
